Jesus “Killer” Sandoval, Roy’s La Jolla

Little did his mother know, when she nicknamed her 3-year old son “Killer” that he would become a killer chef at Roy’s. And as a child, Jesus Sandoval would regularly get kicked out of the kitchen by his mother and grandmother, because they felt men should not be in the kitchen.

Killer’s love for the kitchen brought him to desire a career in culinary arts, where he started off as a dishwasher. His desire to learn from a Master, and to showcase his own unique style led him to Roy’s, where he has grown with for over 16 years. He invites guests to let him know in advance of any special dishes you would like him to make for your party.

What keeps him going all these years? Because “cooking come from the heart”. Killer says with a twinkle in his eye, that “I love to make guests happy, to see the smiles on their faces and having a good time. Cooking is my passion, and I can do it forever.” Come on Roy’s La Jolla and give him a big hug.
