The Great San Diego Outdoors
Enjoying the great outdoors while dining on a fabulous meal is the norm in San Diego. From long-established beachside venues, to intimate courtyard settings, there are a number of ways to dine al fresco while absorbing the San Diego sunshine or the glowing colors of the sunsets. We offer a few choices to make your reservations.
Begin with Breakfast
Fig Tree Café has risen to the top of San Diego’s brunch realm, boasting a garden-style patio clad in climbing vines, lush greenery and a vibrant array of flowers that will have each patron feeling as though they’ve been transported to a scene right out of a Jane Eyre novel. Of the eatery’s three locations around the city, the Pacific Beach outpost melds charming garden-style vibes with the area’s eclectic and coastal feel to create a space that lends itself to a relaxed brunch experience for locals and visitors alike. On the Patio
The Patio on Lamont, in Pacific Beach, and The Patio on Goldfinch, in Mission Hills, both offer a warm hospitable vibe with a quality menu. The indoor/outdoor restaurants give off a friendly, neighborhood feel while serving local, seasonal cuisine with unique cocktails, wine and craft beers. Plus your four-legged family members are whole-heartedly welcomed, as the restaurants make dog treats in-house for your pooch’s dining pleasure.
Located in San Diego’s historic Liberty Station, dining at Fireside is an experience featuring modern, wood-fired cuisine and charming outdoor seating. Gather around, as the fire-inspired fare includes such flame-kissed dishes as Pork Belly and Kimchi Yakitori, Pork Ribs, and flatbreads. The menu makes use of open flames of classic wood and charcoal grills, and has special Tuesday Night Cookouts.
A San Diego tradition, the Catamaran Resort continue their annual luaus on the shores of Mission Bay. The sunset luaus are offered selected Tuesdays and Fridays during the summer (check website for dates and prices), and are a festive celebration of Polynesian food, music, and dances. The true luau experience includes a lei, Mai Tai, all-you-can-eat buffet, and entertainment – with Pride of Polynesia providing authentic island music and dance, featuring hula and fiery torch dancers. Locals and visitors alike will feel transported to a tropical island paradise.
